The British Council is the United Kingdom's international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations. The British Council creates international opportunities for the people of the UK and other countries and builds trust between them worldwide.
British Council's mission in the Arts is to engage with, entertain, and inspire audiences of thousands across India with the best of contemporary UK arts.
In the music sector, British Council constantly works towards cultivating new artistic work. The approach is three-pronged:
- connect artists to build and strengthen networks in the international arts community;
- showcase performances of artists from the UK and India and introduce their music to audiences across these regions;
- and, connect more deeply with communities, organising workshops that bring together artists and school children to facilitate an involvement in the arts from an early age.
All of these activities work towards one goal: to deepen cultural relations between the UK and India.
